Health Systems was formed in 1994 in response to the need for quality nurse consulting services in geriatric and early childhood environments. Our work started as licensed nurses visiting child care centers to assist in health and safety compliance through audits and seminars. Improvement in infection control measures resulted in reducing disease transmission and less illness in child care settings. Training of Trainers increased the number of consultants and training in pediatric environments.
Since 2004, we have partnered with the Illinois Network of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (INCCRRA) to provide early childhood workshops relevant to Quality Rating System (QRS) and ExceleRate. All of our trainings' content coordinates with DCFS standards and current early childhood national guidelines, which has helped training participants to grow in instruction, management, and social emotional supports in the classroom. We continue to increase our partnerships with state and national agencies as trainers, mentors and coaches in the early childhood field.
As of 2014, our consultants are serving early childhood and K-12 public and private programs across Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Iowa.
Health Systems is committed to serving early childhood environments through health and safety site visits by licensed nurses, employee emergency certifications, state-approved professional development seminars, professional development advisement, and a direct link to early literacy resources. With more than one hundred clients, HSES works to break down barriers noted by ECE practitioners in our agency survey (2013), including . Increasing the types, frequency, and formats of professional development assists in reaching early childhood practitioners throughout the midwest, leading to higher quality of instruction and safety assurance of programs. As we work cooperatively to provide more services to the early childhood settings – licensed centers and family child care providers – we integrate community resources for practitioners and families of young children.
We are BOLD.
